What is the difference between the Flakey Crust and Crumb crust?
Mom's makes two main crust on the pies, Flakey or Crumb.
- Flakey Crust - Often called pastry top, is a traditional rolled crust top. This crust is not sweetened and is well...flakey.
- Ingredients: Unbleached wheat flour, butter, vegetable shortening, water and salt
- Crumb Top - Made in the classic French style, the crumbs are made with sugar, butter, and a bit of love and are sprinkled on top as a finishing touch.
- Ingredients: flour, butter, sugar
How do I reheat my pie?
To reheat your pie, place the whole pie in 225 degree oven until warmed through. Alternatively you can heat by slice in microwave 22 seconds (per slice).
These instructions are good for Cutie Pies (5 in) and Whole Pies (9 in).
